Abstract

The Desarda method is a simple, safe, tension-free, mesh-free and cost-effective repair. It has established itself as a new concept in tissue-based hernia repair. Offering a tension-free repair, conferring a strong and physiologically active posterior wall, the operative technique is very simple and safe, the purpose of this work was to evaluate the Desarda technique as an alternative in the repair of inguinal hernia. Materials and Method: For the surgical technique, non-absorbable 1USP Polypropylene suture was used, through patient selection on an elective or emergency basis, the Desarda method was applied in the period of October 2021-September 2022 to patients with a diagnosis of inguinal hernia who attended. to the general surgery service of the Central Hospital of Maracay – Venezuela. Results: with the Desarda technique, 8% patients presented complications, Seroma being the most common, recovery was at 2 hours (62%), with respect to postoperative pain evaluated with the visual analogue scale, the Desarda technique, patients presented VAS : 2 pts (62%), highlighting that 97.96% of patients underwent emergency surgery, no recurrence was documented during the investigation.
