Abstract

Breast cancer represents a significant global health challenge, impacting millions of women worldwide. It has been well-established that early detection is crucial for improving the prognosis and survival rate of breast cancer patients. Mammography is a widely used screening tool for breast cancer, as it has been shown to effectively detect tumors before they become clinically palpable. In recent years, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms in the evaluation of mammograms has gained significant attention. These algorithms have the potential to improve the accuracy and efficiency of breast cancer screening by assisting radiologists in the detection and classification of suspicious lesions, this can help to reduce the workload of radiologists by automating the initial screening process, allowing them to focus on more complex cases.
