Declaración de Ética y Malas prácticas
<div>Declaration of ethics and malpractice in publication The REVISTA VENEZOLANA DE CIRUGÍA is committed to maintaining the integrity of the responsible scientific record, following the ethical guidelines and principles for authors, editors and reviewers dictated by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in the "Guide to Good Practice for Journal Editors" (http://publicationethics.org/files/u2/Best_Practice.pdf). ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF AUTHORS Authors should refrain from misrepresenting research results that could damage confidence in the journal and ultimately the entire scientific endeavor. The integrity of the research and its presentation can be achieved by following the rules of good scientific practice: - The manuscript has not been submitted to more than one journal for consideration. - The manuscript has not been previously published (in part or in whole), unless the new work refers to an expansion of a previous work (provide information on reuse of material to avoid the presumption of "self-plagiarism" text recycling). - A single study should not be divided into several parts to increase the number of submissions and submissions to several journals or to one journal. - No data (including images) have been fabricated or manipulated to support its conclusions. - No data, texts or theories of others are presented as if they were the authors' own ("plagiarism"). Appropriate acknowledgements should be given to other publications; this includes material that is closely copied (almost verbatim), summarized and/or paraphrased; quotation marks are used for verbatim copying material and permissions to publish copyrighted material must be provided. - Important note: the journal may use plagiarism detection software. - Consent for publication has been received from all co-authors and responsible authorities at the institute/organization where the work was carried out before the paper is submitted. - Authors whose names appear in the submission have contributed sufficiently to the scientific work and therefore share collective responsibility and accountability for the results. - No changes in authorship or order of authorship will be accepted after acceptance of the manuscript. - Upon request, authors should be prepared to submit relevant documentation or data to verify the validity of the results. This could be in the form of raw data, samples, records, etc. - If there is any suspicion of misconduct, the journal will conduct an investigation following the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). https://publicationethics.org/ If after investigation, the allegation appears to raise valid concerns, the accused author will be contacted and given the opportunity to give his/her version. Editor's Responsibilities To ensure the integrity of the records to be published by ensuring a confidential and timely peer review process. Apply the necessary measures to ensure the quality of the journal and meet the needs of authors and readers, through clear guidelines for authors and reviewers on what is expected of them. Publish the dates of submission and acceptance of articles. If inappropriate conduct is demonstrated, the Editor-in-Chief may implement the following measures, which include, but are not limited to: ▪ If the article is still under consideration, it may be rejected and returned to the author. ▪ If the article has already been published online, depending on the nature and severity of the infraction, an Erratum will be placed in the article or, in severe cases, complete retraction of the article. The reason should be stated in the erratum or in the published retraction notice. The Editorial Team should not make any decision on a manuscript if there are conflicts of interest or relationships that raise potential problems with respect to the articles under consideration. Responsibilities of Referees or Reviewers Conduct a confidential and objective review of the manuscript submitted for review to assist the editor in making editorial decisions and then contribute to the author's substantial improvement of the article, and may report relevant research or papers that support publication if the author has not cited them. Inform the Editor if they do not feel qualified to carry out the evaluation and to abstain and declare conflict of interest with respect to an author or authors, or the content of the manuscript to be evaluated. Any conflict of interest between authors, reviewers and the editorial team should be avoided. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments. Inform the Editor in case of detecting or suspecting</div>
