Abstract
Objective: To present the first experience of the use of zeolite as haemostatic agent, in a severely injured patient. Patient and methods: Male patient 28 years old admitted at the Hospital Domingo Luciani Trauma Unit, 30 minutes after a shotgun
thoracic and abdominal. He was hemodinamically unstable. Phase 1 of damage control surgery was taken in the operating room. Because bled persistence it was decided to use zeolite like a hemostatic agent. Results: Satisfactory control of the bled one, with later favorable evolution and discharged 10 days of postoperative care. Conclusion: Zeolite (Quick Clot®), represents an effective and safe alternative for control of hemorrhage in a severely injured patient.
